No Font Selection for Closed Captions on YouTube

There is only one type of font for closed captions on YouTube: Ariel.

However, there are many types characters though. This is so Google/YouTube can translate it in different languages.

Basics about Closed Captioning on YouTube

Closed captioning on YouTube is done by uploading a separate file after a video. This file is in the format of a .srt.

It is not at all recommended to use "annotations" because it is much more harder to sync them up with the times and it looks sloppy.

The subtitles in the movie was made using a free program called Subtitle Workshop 4 BETA 4, which is found at www.urusoft.net on the Downloads page.
Click here to downlaod the close caption file that was uploaded to this video (http://auntbee09.googlepages.com/Riteaid.srt).
The file is a .srt and YouTube accepts that.
If you open it in a note pad program, it will look like this:

Making Closed Captions on YouTube

For YouTube, you can do subtitling and captions manually in notepad, with out the use of a computer program. You can see an example in my next post titled, "Examples of Closed Captioning File."

I would recommend, however, that you use one of the many free programs out there to create subtitling.
